Our learning centre focuses on empowering professionals working in the resources industry with knowledge of environmental compliance, systems and approvals requirements.

We will be raising the performance bar for environmental management in the resources industry. Participants will be empowered with information that will add value to their organisation and the ability to communicate environmental requirements to the broader mining community.

Two courses are offered:

One-day Environmental Compliance Course for Non-Environmental Professionals (offered in partnership with Integrate Sustainability).
On-line 6-week Approvals Management Course for Environmental Professionals.

COURSE ANNOUNCEMENTS:

ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE COURSE FOR NON ENVIRONMENTAL PROFESSIONALS

This one-day course to be held in the Perth CBD during July 2015 is focussed on empowering non environmental area managers, HSE managers and supervisors with knowledge of environmental compliance.

This comprehensive course covers:

Overview of environmental legislation and compliance requirements, source of non-compliance and consequences.
Operational controls for managing compliance, roles and responsibilities, integration of compliance into business systems.
Assurance and verification of compliance, stakeholder engagement, internal and external.
Continual improvement, knowledge sharing, transparency.

Time: 8.30am – 4.30pm

Cost: $500 + GST (AusIMM members receive a discount)

Note: A custom in-house course is also available for companies that want all of their area managers to do the course. Cost for this course is dependent on location and number of attendees.

ON-LINE 6 WEEK APPROVALS COURSE

This on-line course and two one-on-one professional development sessions will not only provide an overview of the environmental legislation and Approvals under which mining operates, but also provide tools and strategies for using that theory in the workplace.

This comprehensive course covers:

Material approvals, including Part IV of the Environmental Protection Act, Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, Mining Act, and relationships between different government departments.
A myriad of secondary approvals, and includes exemptions and responsibility for compliance with various acts.
Communication strategies with internal and external stakeholders.
Approvals strategies, using a risk management approach, to ensure Approvals are received within an allocated time frame and within the budgeted amount.
Preparation for project implementation upon receiving the Approval.

The knowledge gained in the course will be integrated into the work that the student is doing now. We’ll go through tools and templates to look at how we take this from theory to practice.
